I’ve never thought about it before! I think I use sofa and couch interchangeably- but to Laura’s point above, I would never call a pullout bed a sleeper couch. It’s always a sofa.

I’ll add to the mix, my grandmother always called her couch a “davenport.”

Thanks for commenting, Joanna! I just looked up "davenport," because I was unfamiliar with the term. It's funny - the definition used sofa not couch, describing a davenport as "a large upholstered sofa, typically able to be converted into a bed. [perhaps from a manufacturer's name]."

I never say sofa! I feel like couches are nicer and sofas are more like pull outs.

Thanks for commenting, Laura! I say couches, also. When it comes to pull-outs, I still call it a pull-out couch. Funny! I tend to think a lot of it comes down to what our families said as we were growing up.
